Promptera is a Chrome extension that helps users optimize prompts before sending them to AI chat assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini). This policy explains what data Promptera handles and how.
Promptera does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on our servers. We do not operate any backend server.
Promptera requires you to provide your own Google Gemini API key. This key is stored locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. It is never sent to us or to any third party other than Google's Gemini API, which you are directly authenticating with using your own key.
When you use Promptera to optimize a prompt, the text of that prompt is sent directly from your browser to Google's Gemini API for processing. It is not sent to or stored by Promptera or its developer. Handling of that data is governed by Google's Gemini API terms.
Promptera requests the minimum permissions necessary to function: storage (to save your API key locally) and activeTab/host access to inject the optimizer button into supported AI chat sites and to call the Gemini API.
We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties.
